About us
The purpose of Mall Marketing Digest is to illuminate the aesthetics and science of retail in India. Apart from news, our team will provide information of the kind that poet Ezra Pound calls "news that stays news".
Debasis Sen, Editor & Publisher
A chance visit to a mall in Gurgaon sometime in 2004 turned into a 'desire for malls' for forty-something Debasis Sen, who has authored numerous articles on different aspects of advertising and marketing. Consequently, Sen devoted the weekends roaming around the malls of Gurgaon and Noida observing stores, buyers, window-shoppers, food courts and parking, and absorbing the nuances of consumer behaviour, advertising and marketing in the malls for over a year. It led to an irresistible desire to create a forum for all those interested in retail, which culminated in Mall Marketing Digest-a fortnightly information product founded on November 1, 2005.
Equipped with 18 years experience in business-technology journalism in senior positions in top media publications in India, Sen has been involved with conceptualization of new niche business publications, recruiting and managing editorial staff, and benchmarking editorial quality with international standards. He has authored a significant report on ICT opportunities in rural India for Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and many articles on the IT industry, pharmaceutical and sustainable development in a number of publications.

supplementing client's leadership in the market.
The Logo
Sabyasachi Kundu designed Mall Marketing Digest's logo. A NIDian and a frequent mall visitor, Kundu cracked the pictorial depiction on June 5, 2005, the day he was unemployed, after his resignation at Times of India, Delhi. He gave the final touch till he was 'dragged' to airport in the evening to fly to Mumbai to take his present assignment as Art Director, Hindustan Times, Mumbai on June 6, 2005.
From designing the gallery of Victoria Memorial Hall in Calcutta (1992) to designing India's first design magazine Design Digest (1996) to redesigning Computers Today (1994) to introduction of boxcar (masthead with picture and text) in Business Standard (1995), Kundu has always surprised with his innovations that are simple but striking. During his stint at Times of India, he set new standards in book design turning a boring guide into an appealing product (Times Food Guide, 2004).
